Spokesman Pat McMahon said PNC PNC) is committed to National City Mortgage and the Dayton but as a result of the it is looking toeliminate 5,8090 positions throughout its geographic presence. PNC now has 2,500 Dayton-area employees at both its bankint andmortgage operations, but McMahon woulds not say how many locapl workers would be cut. “We have a significant presence inMiami Township, but we have said all alont there would be job impact as a part of the mergee companies,” McMahon said. He said PNC is not breakinvg out staff reductions by geographif location orbusiness unit, but it will provide informationj on “expense reductions” in its quarterlyg updates.
PNC has a goal of reducing expensesby $1.2 part of which will come through a reduction in McMahon said it is too early to say what the net outcomde will be in Miami Township, but the company’ s long-term strategy is to grow the companu and add jobs. “We have a meaningful presence in theDayto area. It’s an important market and we want to beaggressivee there,” McMahon said. As a part of the National City branch locations in the Daytonb area are scheduled to beginbeing re-branded as PNC branchew in the first half of 2010.
