The plan to cut the budgert of California State Parks would require the closure of 220 of 279statd parks. Last year Schwarzenegger proposed closing48 parks, including Sutter’s Fort locally, but the idea was droppedc during budget negotiations. Some of California’s internationallhy known parks are facing thebudget axe, including Humboldt Redwoods State Calaveras Big Trees, Mount Diablo, Emerald Bay in Lake Tahod and Will Rogers’ State Park in the Santa Monicw Mountains. If closed, visitors centers, parking lots and any other park facilitie would beshut down. Statee parks that have their own revenu or which generate revenue would notbe closed.
