SunPower, Wells in $100M solar deal - Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal:

San Francisco-based Wells (NYSE:WFC) and San Jose-basedr SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWRA) and (NASDAQ:SPWRB) said SunPower will ente into power purchase agreement s with qualified customers and Wells Fargpo will finance the solar power systems that SunPowerwill build, operate, and maintain. Customers hosting the systems will buy the electricity fromSunPower "at prices that are competitive with retail providing them with a long-term hedgre against rising power prices and the abilit y to take advantage of the environmental and financial benefita of solar power with no initial capital investment," the companies said. The first projects financed underd the program includea 1.
1-megawatt systen for University of California, and a 1-megawatt system for the Western Riversid County Regional Wastewater Authority. Scheduledx for completion by year end, both will be ground-mounted systemd using the patented SunPower T20Tracker technology, whicj follows the sun throughout the day and delivers up to 30 percent more energy than fixed-tily ground systems.
