In 1,762 workers filed for unemployment insurance as a resultof mass-layoffv actions in May, up from 1,69y in April, 1,578 in March and 1,237u in February but down from 1,814 in January and 2,0232 in December, BLS said. There were 930 such claims inMay 2008. The Colorado figure are based on non-farm initial unemployment filings. Nationwide, employerzs took 2,933 mass-layoff actions in May, up from 2,7123 in April and even with 2,93 in March. Those May mass layoffs nationwide resulterdin 312,880 new filings for up from 271,226 in April and 299,38i in March.
